Brandon Jacobs: 'No Chance' Plaxico Burress Returns To Giants
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Sorry, Giants fans. For those longing for a Plaxico Burress-New York reunion, Big Blue running back Brandon Jacobs says don't hold your breath.
"There is no chance Plaxico Burress is a New York Giant after he comes home," Jacobs told the New York Daily News on Thursday.
"None."
Tuck was attending teammate Justin Tuck's R.U.S.H. for Literacy pool tournament at Manhattan's Slate nightclub.
Burress, scheduled for release from Oneida Correctional Facility on June 6, would make a fine fit for the Eagles. Andy Reid's team is familiar with rehabilitation -- they took quarterback Michael Vick in after his incarceration.
That's exactly where Jacobs thinks he's headed.
"Plax is a Virginia guy, Vick is a Virginia guy. They sort of went through the same things," said Jacobs. "It wouldn't be a bad thing, he thinks, to go down there if you want to win. He wants to go down there, he wants to have a chance to win the Super Bowl right away."
For added measure, Jacobs reiterated Plax's position. That is, he isn't coming back to New York.
"No, he ain't coming to the Giants," he said. "That's out of the question. He's got options and it's good that he can wait out his options. I would love for him to be a part of the Giants, but I don't think that's even on his plate."
If Burress does bolt for Philadelphia -- or somewhere else -- it won't be for a lack of effort on Jacobs' part.
"I was campaigning before the lockout started," said Jacobs. "He has a lot of friends on this team and this is a team that wants him here. I can't speak for Plaxico. Obviously he has a mind of his own and he knows what he wants to do. But coming from the captain of the New York Giants, I would love to see Plaxico back here in Giants blue."
