NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – It’s wedding season and that means brides-to-be and bridesmaids alike are lacing up their running shoes for Filene’s Basement’s annual Running of the Brides.
Hundreds of brides lined up outside Filene’s early Friday morning, hoping to be first in the door and first to the rack.

“I said ‘Grab as many as you can carry’,” recalled bride Michelle Menedez.
Many were waiting in line all outside night to get the dress of their dreams for a bargain price.
“We got here about 3:45 a.m.,” said bride Carmen Rodriguez.
“I want the sweetheart neckline. I want it formed right here and then out,” said bride Melissa Byler.
These dresses typically retail for anywhere from $900 to $9,000 but they’re going for $250 to $700.
In here, strategy is key, and most brides came armed with a plan of attack. Some even brought along their men.
“I’m walking, I’m walking, I’m walking,” said Carlos Santiago.
After about a dozen dresses, Latenya Newton got her prize: the perfect dress to marry her fiance, David King, next spring.
“I found my dress!” the Morris Park, Bronx bride said. “Ah he’s going to love it. I’m going to be a queen for my king!”
Denise Balfour and her bridesmaids wore blue wigs and red shirts so they could easily spot each other and conduct recon in the crowded store.
Most know exactly what type of dress they’re looking for before the doors open.
“Strapless, sweetheart neckline, ivory, trumpet style or mermaid style,” said Balfour.
And team Balfour is ready to do whatever it takes to make sure their bride gets her dream gown.

“We’re just going to run in there and start pulling dresses, Rambo style,” said one of Balfour’s bridesmaids.
Many of the dresses were already back on the racks for late-comers to pick through all day until 10:00 p.m. Friday.
