Giants' Justin Tuck On WFAN: Players 'Unified' In NFL Lockout Fight

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Giants defensive leader Justin Tuck says despite the NFL lockout dragging on and on, players are still hanging tough.

"I think we're pretty unified right now," Tuck told WFAN's Boomer & Carton on Friday. "Obviously as this goes on, we can't compete with billionaires right now. ... The ramifications of what happens throughout this (lockout) is going to affect not only us, but those to come 10, 15 years from now. So we definitely want to do what's right."

Tuck praised the efforts of New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees. Like Giants QB Eli Manning, Brees has been busy organizing practices for his Saints squad.

"We don't want to be that generation that kind of folded and gave up all the privilege that we had beforehand," he said. "Right now, man, I think we're in a great space as far as the people that have stepped up. Drew Brees has stepped up like a man."

NFLPA head DeMaurice Smith has been a force for the players. Tuck said Smith is "primed to make sure that we come out on top in this one."

"I think considering the fact that everyone but the owners seem to be siding with this us on this one, it's a lot of pressure on him," Tuck said. "But I think he's up for it."

So, with all the bickering between the two sides, how does Tuck feel toward Giants ownership? According to the defensive end, there's no bad blood between himself, John Mara and Steve Tisch.

"I understand the concept behind 'This is a business,'" he said. "You really can't take it personal. Really, because Mr. Mara and Mr. Tisch are great men. Obviously, they gave me a shot to be in this league, so I'm indebted to them forever.

"So I understand, you know, what's going on right now. I won't take it personally. Definitely not, definitely not."

Will the players remain unified, or will their ranks splinter as the lockout drags on? Sound off in the comments below...
