BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (CBSNewYork/AP) — It has now been more than a week since Westchester native Lauren Spierer disappeared after a night out with friends in Bloomington, Indiana where she goes to school.
The 20-year-old Indiana University college student from Greenburgh was last seen on June 3 a few hours after leaving a popular Bloomington bar with friends.
Police and hundreds of volunteers have been looking for Lauren since her disappearance. Three separate searches were planned throughout the day Saturday. A grid search of the city and surrounding areas so far has yielded few clues.
Bloomington police have 10 “persons of interest’‘ they want to speak to but don’t consider them suspects. Capt. Joe Qualters won’t reveal who they’ve spoken to or what those people have said.
Bloomington attorney Ron Chapman said Saturday that he represents Mike Beth, a roommate of Corey Rossman, whom Spierer accompanied to his apartment after leaving a Bloomington bar on the night she disappeared.
Chapman said Beth provided a DNA sample to investigators.
In a news conference on Saturday, police said while they have no significant developments in the case, multiple tips have been received by the department.
Lauren’s case is set to be featured on the TV show America’s Most Wanted Saturday night at 9pm on Fox.
Police said they sent a detective to Washington, DC to provide information about the case for the show and have extra staff manning the phones in hopes tips will come in after the broadcast.
