To begin his first update of the morning, Jerry “Rello” Recco played a cut from a familiar voice as we listened to Suzyn Waldman describe Derek Jeter’s early exit from last night’s 1-0 Yankees loss to the Indians.

Jeter has what is being reported as a grade I strain in his right calf. It is unclear whether or not Jeter will miss any time, but just for fun Boomer & Craig imagined how the aforementioned Suzyn and John Sterling might react if Jeter were to be in tonight’s lineup.

We also heard from a subdued, tough-luck loser A.J. Burnett and some talk about Alex Rodriguez’s pursuit of 3,000. A-Rod currently has 2,737 career hits.

As for the Mets, they fell to the Pirates 3-1 and with the loss fell 2 games below the .500 mark (32-34) which is making Craig believe the “Not So Amazins” might be somehow allergic to the elusive .500 mark.  Boomer & Craig also debated with Jerry about when and if Johan Santana will pitch for the Mets this season…
