Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Wife Huma Abedin Returns Home Amid Husband’s Sexting Scandal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Congressman Anthony Weiner’s pregnant wife Huma Abedin returned to their Washington, DC home early Wednesday. Abedin had been traveling overseas with her boss Secretary of State Hillary Clinton since the disgraced congressman’s Twitter scandal broke. The question is now: does her return mean the defiant House member’s resignation may be imminent?

On Tuesday, fellow Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy suggested as much.

“It’s been what two weeks. It’s been a very long two weeks,” said McCarthy. “Hopefully, we are hearing he might resign in a couple of days.”

The congressman’s colleagues on Capitol Hill want him to leave after his embarrassing sexting scandal.

“I think we should send a strong message to him that he should resign,” said Rep. Sandy Levin (D-Michigan).

“Our caucus understands our concern for the rights of the individual member but our higher responsibility is to our country to uphold a high ethical standard in the Congress of the United States,” said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif).

House Speaker John Boehner was the latest to weigh in on the sexting scandal, saying he should step down.

CBS News reported that Weiner has told friends he would make no decision until he spoke with his wife. Weiner was officially on a two week leave of absence, getting professional treatment, according to his office.

President Obama has already suggested Weiner should resign, but some say there may be more he can do to influence the decision.

“Maybe the White House helps him get a job, with no fingerprints, so he can go on making a living, which is what he needs to do as well,” said political consultant Hank Sheinkopf.

Will Weiner resign? Should he? Sound off in our comments section below…

Huma Weiner is back! Fresh from learning lessons from Hilary in lamp-throwing and shoe-chucking. Grab some popcorn, people. This is gonna get funny-ugly!!

    1. Jim in Houston says:

I’ll bet she doesn’t Huma Weiner any time soon.

  2. TexasRick says:

I thought the Dems were all about diversity and freedom of expression without the yoke of morality around their necks. I say Weiner should stay as a constant reminder of the values the liberals hold dear.

  3. susan says:

If Weiner had no marketable skills and can’t find a job in private sector (supposedly why he’s reluctant to resign) why in the world is he an elected “leader” of the American people?

  4. ttyp00 says:

Golly gee, you’re so right! Any other unfounded points you’d like to make, poindexter?

  5. nathan says:

brassia if you could try being literate that would be a good start.

    1. Charlie Sheen says:

Weren’t you the same guy crying to CBS asking them to censor comments earlier today? I believe they’re still posted below, and suggest others examine your attempt to stifle public debate.

      2. RonM says:

Mary,,,it’s an old joke…a horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, “why the long face”. The implication being is that Huma has a horse face.

  7. Roger Sunderlin says:

wish this was a reality show on cbs so we could see hillary kick his ass.ratings would sky rocket.

    1. Perry White says:

I don’t know if it’s appropriate for the Tiffany Network, but Real House Wives could be a blockbuster on Bravo.

  8. JBG says:

Its ok to punish kids for sexting but not if you are a congressman? If you were a teenager caught sexting wouldn’t your defense be that if it is ok for Wiener it should be ok for a me? Like it or not, a congressman should be an example of good behavior not bad behavior.

  9. Uncle Tony says:

I’d rather have a Black Marist than a Republican any day of the week. We already live in a CEO culture where the CEO makes $20 million a year and is working on his 10th mansion while the people who work for the CEO are lucky to make the minimum wage and be able to afford 10 slices of bread. It is only going to get worse, and we need a socialism-lite type government to counteract an economy where 90% of the population have no contact with capitalism. Obama will be re-elected in 2012 when he will seriously be re-distribution of wealth in this country.

    1. brassia says:

What is your IQ?- I assume single digits!
Why the socialism didn’t work in any country it was ever attempted?I doubt you can even name a few of them in Europe!
And Bu the way wirth the MArxist in office you wouldn’t be able to afforf gas or food quite soon!
Your marxist already eluded as much that he is OK being 1 term presidedt as he knows his chances to get reelecrted is NULL…luckily the majority of people have undoubtfully way more intelligence than you are!

    2. mikelly7979 says:

Uncle Tony – You are entitled to your opinion. Which by the way is one of the benefits of a capitalistic society. In a soliety that derived based on Socialism, one is not allowed to express there opinions. So if you truly want a socialism-lite type of government then please move to such a country because that is not who we are in the USA.

    3. IgnoranteElephante says:

Yes Tony, 90% of the population doesn’t have access to capitalism. This is the same this is the same country where we waste our money on smart phones, SUVs, and tattoos, where we are chronically obese from over indulging on fast food, where my unemployed collegue just bought a $500 house, and where my illegal immigrant neighbors, who I have seen go through the trash for bottles and cans, drive around in a $70,000 luxury car.

    4. IgnoranteElephante says:

My comment above should read a “$500,000” home.

    5. VABB says:

You have your socialist lite economy. How do you like it so far? High unemployment, no reinvestment by the business sector, high taxes and going higher, hiigh gas prices, people being run out of their homes at an alarning rate and balls out inflation when you take gas and food into the equation. I get it, we need more socialist polices and red tape to fix everything.

    6. Gunny G Alz says:

Yeah? Well Nutsy Pelosi’s wealth GREW by 62% in this recession and your messiah has TWO illegals going in Libya and Yemen. But keep blaming those CEO strawmen….

  10. libysnow says:

Leave her alone…She has gone thru enough!

    1. areyouallidiots says:

what has she gone thru? she married a lodmouth sex addicted thug THAT SHE KNEW WAS A SEX ADDICT. But I’ll give you this…the coming and going of a horse-faced aide to hillary Clinton isn’t news. Women must llearn that their is a price for everything they do…something that men learned about 1 million years ago!

    2. Gunny G Alz says:

She married a democrat and they have no priniples or morals. She deserves what she gets. Much like you Obama voters voting for a clown that the rest of us have to suffer with.

      1. CaptainInsano says:

Like the left didn’t have to suffer for 8 years of Bushs’ stupidity?

    3. dimsum4everyone says:

this is why jews and muslims don’t marry.

  11. Adrian Fitzpatrick says:

The Democrats are a bit hypocritical in this matter, don’t you think? I mean they have had their Barney Frank in the Senate for years. He is openly gay, he has caused a number of scandals because of his live in lovers and the foul mouth, low life, is still in the Senate. However, what Weiner has done is beyond the pail, he has crossed the line sexting to young girls. In my mind he needs to be fired right away.

  12. NCBob says:

If Huma is preggie, do we know who the father is? Plus, if Steny & Pelosi want Weiner gone, they must know that there is more to come. Weiner should stay in Congress where he will continue to be a democrat.

    1. dimsum4everyone says:

Huma is the only one who knows if she is pregnant. This rumour needs to be proved.

      1. Humainsider says:

        I know she’s pregnant. It’s my child.

      2. littleleers says:

Not sure I buy Huma being pregnant. She isn’t showing and most women in the first few weeks and months experience lots of fatigue and morning sickness.

Huma keeps up a brutal schedule pacing with Hill around the globe. Look for news that Huma had a “miscarriage”.

  13. Bill says:

The real truth is he may very well pull a Barney Frank – stay in and even get re-elected.
This is one of many good reasons why there ought to be term limits.

And note how the Dems are calling for a tax increase on $250 K and above – it’s below what they make, so it won’t effect them, just like Obama Care doesn’t effect them, just like how none of the mess they put them country and the American people through doesn’t effect them – they still have their jobs, full pay, and perks that would make you sick if you really knew how much they amount to.

All while the Dems did not give social security recipients their COLAs 2 years in a row, people are laid-off, losing their homes, and millions are on furloughs (less hours/pay cuts), and they’re all stressed of it getting even worse while Obama, Biden, and company walk around with smiles on their faces, and zipper-heads like Weiner have nothing better to do than play on the computer.

    1. Daisy says:

Very good point about term limits. What is this — Weiner’s 7th term?! That’s not public service, it’s sheer opportunism.

  14. don says:

Pls leave Wiener hanging so we can remind ourselves what democrats stand for – or he could move over to serve with the other perverts at MSNBC as a commentator

    1. dimsum4everyone says:

    2. BoilingPointClose says:

or join his goofy pal at CNN.

    3. Quickledo says:

We already have Barney to remind us what Dems stand for. not to mention Charlie, Nancy, Chris, Chucky, Harry, Gerry and all the rest of the criminals.

  15. KCEddie says:

    Who gives a F@!#$ ! LMAO

  16. BlownfuelCoupe says:

When you buy the Weiner, you swallow the Weiner.

    1. dimsum4everyone says:

      Which version? Both?

  17. dimsum4everyone says:

Huma, a muslim woman, doesn’t have any rights under islamic law to “order or tell or even suggest” that her husband do anything. He married a weak powerless woman who parades around with hilary in the same manner as if she were hilary’s purse dog.

Now, I’d like to see Weiner meet “chris hansen” (have you watched Dateline and don’t you recognize me? I’m chris hansen, I’m chris hansen!) in the kitchen of some tweeter recipient! LOL Chris could tell him what to do.

    1. dootise says:

what r u ..nuts? weak and powerless? parading? purse? bright as a whip…chief of staff to the most powerful woman in the world? subject to sharia law…..only in your mind.

      1. dimsum4everyone says:

Let’s just wait and see what the muslim decides the jew is forced to do. Don’t hold your breath. P.S. Better adjust your berka, I can see your mouth sneering and that’s not allow for islamic keep-your-mutiple-wives-silent-naked-hidden-and pregnant.

Ask yourself how many muslim women in muslim countries drive a car, go to school, wear short skirts, kiss or hold hands in public?

    2. Daisy says:

Huma, like Maria Shriver, Hillary etc., was brought up to consider Weinerism perfectly normal . Heck, these women routinely farm out their marital relations to the help!

A very big ‘no no’ is for the husband to be blatant, thereby bringing to light the degraded arrangement. Another is for the husband to lose his job over it. See: Arnold. If Weiner loses stature, Huma will be lawyering up just as quickly as Shriver.

Hillary, let’s just say different among women, didn’t need a lawyer; she just stepped over Bill and plans to run the World Bank and then run for POTUS.

Ah, Leftist values. If only they didn’t affect the rest of the culture so adversely. But they do.

  18. mrsharfer says:

After only a year, Huma thought the weiner would be okay alone for a couple of weeks. Wrong!! Silly woman! He’s a liberal. Nobody can trust him, including the wife!

    1. Leonard Peracchio says:

Well Huma is back… let the War Begin!!!

    2. Daisy says:

He was at this less than a month after their marriage.

  19. John Casey says:

To the poster about China meeting the leaders of Iran .
The dirty little secret is that China made a deal with Iran for
the next 20 years to explore and buy gas ,100 billions dollars worth.
Yes this happened with George Bush & Cheney in office and we did
nothing about it. China of course wants to make sure their investment
in Iran is secure. Strange bedfellows to be sure .

    1. IgnoranteElephante says:

How does one stop two sovereign nations from contracting? Are you suggesting that we should have declared war on China over it or are you suggesting Bush and company should have imposed a trade embargo on China. In the latter event, there would be a revolt en masse from within our country seeing how seventy percent of all goods are imported from China.

So what is this list? Just some countries that no longer EXIST! I wonder how many people of these countries have at one time said “that will never happen here”.

Well Ahmadinejad on Wednesday joined the Chinese and Russian leaders and had some talks about “The West” mainly the USA. Who know what they talked about but 5 will get you 10 it wasn’t good. While most Americans continue to bury their head in the sand and say “nothing is gonna happen here”, I wonder how many said that in the Roman Empire.

Are you worried at all? Don’t be our leader is having a picnic. It seems he can’t play the fiddle!
You think I’m over reacting? I hope I am, I really do. But our military is spread so thin in 4 wars, our borders are as secure as Swiss cheese, racial tension is at an all time high, THINK ABOUT IT… a group of Cub Scouts could march in here armed with slingshots and take over this country.

But hey, nothing bad will ever happen here!

That whole 911 thing was just some movie of the week.

  26. Pounce Kitty says:

  27. Mike says:

we are definitely living in “bazarro world” these days. the fact that there is even a question or a doubt that rep. weiner should have been removed (or removed himself) immediately is a very, very, very sad commentary on all involved…that (of course) includes weiner himself, the democratic party and all (and i mean absolutely all of the–beyond hypocritcal–radical left-wing mainstream media). you people are completely nuts.

how absolutely disgusting it has been to listen to these various liberal freaks making the excuse such as 1) he REALLY didn’t breeak any laws, 2) it’s simply a matter between him and his wife, 3) it’s simply a matter between him and his ‘constituents’, or 4) the liberals making the argument–well, this republican did something far worse (what are you all…in kindergarten?) No, no,no…WE ARE PAYING THIS GUY–HE WORKS FOR US! NOTHING BUT SAD, PITIFUL EXCUSES FOR BOTH weiner AND HIS SAD, MISINFORMED, MISGUIDED, FREAKISH, UNMORAL/AMORAL, LOW-LIFE CONSTITUENTS AND THE DIGUSTING RADICAL LEFT-WING MEDIA AND OTHERWISE THAT SUPPORTS THIS FREAK.

and…as a side note…is it not incredulous that women’s groups would actually SUPPORT this freak?? where were these same womens’ groups when sarah palin was being politically ‘raped’ by the demonic mainstream media??? where were they…you liberal freaks???

2012 can’t come soon enough! time to remove the utter TRASH that is LIBERALISM and return to GOD & COUNTRY.

    1. IgnoranteElephante says:

Well said, but, unfortunately, for 2012 to mean, anything the public needs to be educated that the government serves us at our will, and not the other way around. Too many people complain, but bury their head in the sand come election day. They have been brain washed by the liberal media and liberal education system that they shouldn’t expect more from their government. They are told that the answer to their problems are more laws that regulate the way they live. No one seems to see that with each bicycle lane and pedestrian plaza, with each ban on an “unsafe beverage,” with each legislative mandate to redefine history, our rights are being eviscerated before our eyes.

    2. Crystal says:

Oh, so you like to see more of what just happened in Wisconsin then?

      1. IgnoranteElephante says:

I don’t know what you are talking about and I suspect you don’t either.

  28. Kate says:

“Maybe the W/H could help him GET A JOB”????? The W/H had better START worrying about the jobs of all Americans. Crony governance is repugnant and Democrats are up to their necks in it. Enough already!

  29. Vince says:

I really don’t care what Huma thinks. She’s a lapdog for Hillary and she married a pervert, so she can’t be wrapped too tight to begin with.

  30. Kenny West says:

Weiner’s looks fabulous in panyhose and bra in the newly released photos, although his choice of a white bra with black pantyhose might lead you to doubt his color consciousness. A little lacey black plunge bra would have set the look off smartly.

  33. Zeke says:

The girls are back in town after having so much fun together. Why would Huma and Hillary care what their men are doing?

  34. Hank Warren says:

Lewd politicians, yet another violation of our rights. Add it to the list of gov’t violations of our rights:
They violate the 1st Amendment by placing protesters in cages, banning books like “America Deceived II” and censoring the internet.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns.
They violate the 4th and 5th Amendment by molesting airline passengers.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting undeclared wars for foreign countries.
Impeach Obama, vote for Ron Paul.

  35. Susan says:

As a wife and mother of three college aged ladies, I just have to laugh at the Democratic hypocrisy. They want Weiner to resign over sending photos to women and yet President Clinton was getting B-Jobs in the White House from low level staff. We didn’t hear Democrats calling for his resignation. They are all Idiots.

    1. Daisy says:

That, and he’s a rapist. But hey, why let all that get in the way of the ‘important business of running the country’ (into the ground is the only part the “Liberals’ left out of that sentence).

  36. Robertok says:

One, who would name their kid ‘Huma’? This is America, so name your kids American names! Or, if you migrate here with a messed up name, change it! Anyway, Anthony Weiner being in so called ‘sex therapy’ is a JOKE! Men, unless they are rapist, or some other perverted thing, don’t need sex therapy. Men are coursing with testosterone and men are men. Get over it, Liberals.

    1. Crystal says:

Are you seriously worried about someones name? Really?

      1. Daisy says:

Pretty pathetic about the names – and – guess what? Weiner IS a pervert.

Technically, he’s a male, but this woman in no way shape or form, considers him a man.

Wahat is Missum Huma Weiner twitting?

Missum Huma Weiner tweetering her tongue to her Weiner twit.

  39. RD Brinkley says:

Congressman Anthony Weiner, after days of denying he sent lewd pictures of himself over Twitter, after days of being unable to deny that the underwear and underlying bulge might have been a picture he took of himself, finally arrived at the realization that no one believed him and confessed.

Yes, the lewd pictures were of him. Yes he sent them to female acquaintances. Yes, he had been engaged in this activity for years. He apologized for engaging in lewd activity. He apologized for sending lewd pictures to at least six women. He apologized for lying. He even apologized to Andrew Breithart, who broke the story.

Despite this “hugely regrettable” ethical lapse, Congressman Weiner said he will not resign his House seat because he did not break any House rules. What? Does the House of Representatives have a rule requiring that a members”shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.” Oops!

Ethics is not about rhetoric. Ethics is about doing what is right. Ethics is about action. Congressman Weiner cannot claim himself an ethical failure personally then separate his personal and professional lives. They are inseparable. Otherwise , Congressman Weiner may claim a moral equivalency with Mother Theresa.
“Nothing about this should reflect in any way on my official duties or oath of office,” said Congressman Weiner. “I engaged in inappropriate online conversations. … I don’t believe I did anything that violates any law or rule.” What about right from wrong, Congressman Weiner?
Congressman Weiner’s lewd activity was ethically wrong. His attempted cover-up was ethically wrong. His claims of his Twitter account being hacked were lies, hence ethically wrong. Deception and lying are morally wrong. Character counts Congressman Weiner.

Your unethical behavior reflects badly not only on yourself but also the House of Representatives. Do not bring any more shame on the House of Representatives. Resign now. Your resignation is in the best interests of Congress, the United States Government, and, more importantly, the People of the United States.

Lily Tomlin was said, “The problem with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.” Congressman Weiner, you cannot separate your professional from your personal life. If you try, you’re still a rat.

  43. Gregory says:

Let this sad, sick person work out his problems. The hand writing is on the wall. Above all he deserves to be treated as a human being. For the Democrats, just refer back to how Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, etc were treated.

  44. Mia says:

He needs to resign. I am a constituient, and if the Democrats can’t get him to resign, I will vote Republican straight down the line in the next election, and will urge my friends and family to do likewise. He is a sick man, and in no mental state to help run this country during a critical time in this country’s history. He is not only exchanging questionable messages with grown women, he is trading inappropriate messages with minors. His explanation that he could not tell what age the females were did not fly with anyone I know in this district. I find it interesting that the media for the most part has not reported on the exact content of the messages as one media outlet did — unchallenged. I just saw a film clip of his wife returning from her trip. She looks somber — not like someone who thinks what her husband is doing is okay as he claims. Yes, he is a liar of the worst kind, and he is willingly dragging his wife and his child down the tubes with him. Disgusting!

    1. Michael H. says:

Mia, don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. Write in yourself as a candidate if you don’t want to vote for Weiner in the next election. That’s what I’ll be doing, instead of voting Republican.

      1. Gene says:

Are you ACTUALLY saying this disgusting perv should still be in office?

My God, look how low we have sunk!

      2. Michael H. says:

I have repeatedly stated that Weiner should step down and that I would NOT vote for him in the upcoming election. However, that does not mean I will vote for a Republican. I will do a write in vote for myself in protest of Weiner.

Where did I state that I would support Weiner remaining in office. That’s right, I didn’t, and stated just the opposite. Learn how to read, Gene.

That’s it just vote party lines. No bother or intellegience involved. THen one day you will wake up with nothing and no rights and say “Hey what happened”.

      4. HRC says:

I’d rather vote for a republican

    2. James says:

You sound a little nut’s yourself Mia to be perfectly honest.

      1. Mia says:

I see that Weiner’s well-paid support machine is out in full force…..

      2. Gene says:

You are the ones supporting a US Congressman who posts pornographic pictures of himself, shares foul-mouth messages with children, and has photos taken of him in drag, and you call Mia “nuts” for being repulsed by it?!?

Lord Almighty, what have we sunk to?

I wanted to post a comment until I saw this annoying reply. It appears the blog doesn’t have a Moderator. I’m out of here.

Did anybody check YOU into a mental asylum?

  47. Jets Fan says:

Weiner is la lying lewd and lascivious jerk. We all know sex offenders can’t be rehabilitated, but this jerk takes a 2 week leave of absence to expecting everyone to forgive his transgressions. He suffers as much from extreme hubris as sexual dementia. If he stays, Congress is nothing but a bunch of complicit jerks as well.

    1. Michael H. says:

Sex offender? That’s a little harsh, don’t you think? Weiner hasn’t committed any crime, and the main reason many of his constituents want him out is because he lied about the whole thing.

  48. Jack McHugh says:

Maybe the White House helps him get a job, with no fingerprints, so he can go on making a living, which is what he needs to do as well,” said political consultant Hank Sheinkopf. – He will still get his pension so who cares? If this was you or I, we would be fired and that would be that. I’m sure CNN or MSNBC would hire him, they take in psychotic liberals.

  49. Michael Santomauro says:

Rep. Anthony Weiner’s completely non-measured, non-conciliatory remarks on the Israeli attack on the humanitarian aid flotilla are proof that he’d rather be a successful New York politician than a prominent national liberal … Will the liberals who only know Weiner from his feisty MSNBC appearances and his staunch support of the president’s domestic initiatives be put off when they hear him taking the “Israel can do no wrong” side in the debate over Israel’s botched raid, in international waters, of a humanitarian aid flotilla? … “Even if we are the only country on earth that sees the facts here,” Weiner says, “the United States should stand up for Israel.” That’s the statement of a man with whom there can be no reasoning.

  50. Barry Levine says:

This poor jerk is a prime example of why we should look the other way when people step into a mess. We are quick to condem, we are quick to quote, ie, “According to….” and we do not realize that the guy on the top has the same mental problems as the guy on the bottom. His action is a comfort to me because now I am aware that I am not as weird as I and others believe I am.
