NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Now that embattled Anthony Weiner has resigned, many are wondering what’s next for the former congressman?

Weiner might have a future career in television.

The Hollywood Reporter says Weiner has been offered a cameo on the HBO series “Entourage” playing himself on the show.

The show’s executive producer Doug Ellin reportedly reached out to Weiner before his resignation on Thursday about appearing on the show this summer.

So far, Weiner hasn’t responded to Ellin, but maybe that’s because he’s considering a job offer from Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt.

In a letter to The Huffington Post, Flynt offers says to Weiner “I would like to make you an offer of employment at Flynt Management Group, LLC in our Internet group.”

Flynt says he wants Weiner for his politics, not his Twitter pics, asking Weiner to become a political contributor for the magazine.

Not only is he serious about giving the former lawmaker a job, but Flynt says he’ll offer him a 20 percent raise from what he was making in congress plus benefits.

Flynt goes on to say “While this employment opportunity is being offered in large part due to your qualifications and clear passion for making a change, I feel that your unfortunate resignation is a prime example of unfounded political pressure and the hypocrisy that has invaded democracy in Washington D.C.”

Job offers aside, what is most likely in Weiner’s future is some sort of work in politics.

During his resignation speech on Thursday, he said, “I will be looking for other ways to contribute my talents, to make sure that we live up to that most of New York and American ideals.”

Election records show Weiner has more than $365,000 for a congressional re-election campaign and another $4.5 million reserved for a prospective campaign to become New York City mayor. But that money comes with limitations.

“Well, he can’t take it with him and go to Disneyland. It’s not, he’s not able to convert it to personal use,” said Ken Gross, campaign finance expert.

So it’s hard to say what Weiner will be doing next politically, but when it comes to his personal life, he has a lot to do.

Weiner said he wouldn’t be making the decision to resign alone, but he stood solo as he announced his resignation.

“I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife Huma,” he said during his resignation speech Thursday.

His wife of just 11 months, Huma Abedin now pregnant with their first child, was seen with her husband outside their Forest Hills apartment but she did not stand by her man as he explained his way out of office.

“Most importantly, my wife can continue to heal from the damage I’ve caused,” Weiner said.

Those following the unraveling of a political career could only imagine the conversations between Weiner and his wife, wondering if their marriage was unraveling as well.

“I would imagine there was a lot of tears on both sides,” said relationship therapist Irina Firstein. “I would imagine some screaming, some how and why and what.”

Firstein says the newly wed couple has yet to build the firm foundation of a solid marriage. Their road to recovery will be rocky.

“Couples do heal. Sometimes these kinds of things open channels of communication that didn’t exist before,” said Firstein. “But he’s going to need therapy. they’re going to need therapy.”

Political allies have turned their backs on the disgraced congressman and now he must do everything he can so his wife doesn’t do the same.

New York Rep. Steve Israel said he advised Weiner that his resignation was best for him, his family and the country.

The couple reportedly headed to the Hamptons after Weiner resigned on Thursday.
