Yvonne Walker Charged In Slaying Of 88-Year-Old Irvington Woman

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Bail has been set at $1 million for the woman accused of killing an 88-year-old woman in Irvington.

Authorities on Friday charged 45-year-old Yvonne Walker with murder, robbery and weapons offenses.

Authorities say Walker stabbed Casetta Blunt multiple times. Walker regularly came to Blunt's Campfield Street home to do chores.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray says Blunt was best known in the community for tending her garden and being kind to others.

"The danger posed by this homicide is now in the past," Irvington Police Director Joseph Santiago said. "We just want to reassure the residents of Irvington that there is no need for them to be fearful.''
