Mets' David Wright Feels 'Good' After Light Workout At Citi Field
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- David Wright is eager to return to Citi Field. So what better place to do a little rehab than the Mets' home in Flushing?
"I felt good," Wright said after the Mets' 7-3 loss to the Angels on Sunday.
Wright said he had a catch "for 20 throws" and took grounders from his knees.
"I made it through," he said, "which I was expecting."
Wright has been out with a stress fracture in his lower back that is thought to be the result of a diving tag in April.
He's scheduled for more tests this week. If the news is positive, Wright will fly down to rehab at Port St. Lucie, Florida.
"I haven't had any hint that it's going to go anything less than favorable," Wright said. "Hopefully, I'll be ready to go once I get that clearance."
The star third baseman played through the injury for a while, then went on the disabled list May 16.
"It's weird and disappointing that I can't go out there and play," said Wright. "It's something where I can't physically go do something to quicken the process. I just have to wait it out and make sure the bone heals correctly before I start amping it up."
