Search Continues For Missing College Student Lauren Spierer

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (CBSNewYork) – The parents of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer are still holding out hope for their daughter’s return.

In Bloomington, Indiana, a massive search is underway Saturday to find the 20-year-old from Westchester who has been missing for more than three weeks. Spierer’s father Robert says the search is called “Find Lauren Day” and will cover a large area outside the city.

“As loving parents of a child, we’re doing that which I think anyone would do,” he said.

Spierer’s mother Charlene is still asking anyone with information to come forward. She said if there was a terrible accident, they could deal with that but they can’t deal with not knowing.

“Lauren, I miss everything about you,” she said. “There’s not one thing any given day that I’m not missing about you. We’re really ready to go home. We just need Lauren. We need our daughter.”

Lauren was last seen walking home to her apartment around 4:30 a.m. on June 3 after a night out with friends. Police say 1,500 tips have come in to the Bloomington Police Department since she went missing.

I personally think that the police should look into who could possibly be up at 5 am around that neighorhood where Lauren lived. I would look at security guards that work at the apartment or registered sex offenders in the area. I think this person may have stalked her all night or even since she’s been living in that area. I just hope that they find Lauren and that sick person as well.

What a bunch of nasty, negative people some of you are. If something ever happens to you or a family member, you better hope that more compassionate people than you are available to assist in the search and to support your family.

I don’t understand why a few able bodied male friends would ever let her walk home alone at that hour. It is crazy that none of them offered to walk her home. What kinds of male friends are these?

She’s definitely dead… they’re going to find in her in a couple of weeks just like the poor girl from Jersey they found in the pond a few weeks back. It
s a shame to say it, but if she disappeared at 4:30 am there’s a slim chance they’re going to find her alive. I feel for her poor parents though, this is a horrible way to lose a kid 😦

Somebody knows something, but is not saying. It could be a straight-up random kidnapping, or someone who knew ‘of’ her & happen to catch her alone in the wee hrs. of the morning. If she was ‘walking’ to her apt., then she must not have been too far from it when she was taken (if that’s the case). If she’s gone of her own accord, somebody knows something. And if it’s foul play & she’s kidnapped somebody saw something, someone, during those wee hrs. that can connect to her disappearance.

    This girl is gone.
