Boomer & Craig kick off a brand new week of shows live from Yankee Stadium, the site of the Bombers-Boomer-Broadway Celebrity Softball Game for Charity. And it’s hard to have a case of the Mondays with the two local baseball teams playing as well as they have.
The Yankees begin the week in 1st place in the AL East. And don’t look now, but the Mets are just 4 games out of the wild card after taking two of three from the defending American League Champions, the Texas Rangers.
At the risk of sounding like a bandwagon jumper, Craig says it’s nowhere out of the question to suggest the Mets can win the wild card this year.
Yankee Stadium also played host to the annual Old Timers’ Day event, and it was a special one for fans of the Bronx Bombers. This year marked the return of Joe Torre, who once again donned the pinstripes for the first time since his ugly departure from the organization after the 2007 season.
Craig has a little bit of a problem with the overwhelming ovation Torre received from the Yankee Stadium crowd yesterday, claiming that it’s as if people have forgotten how poorly they treated Torre on his way out the door. Boomer, om the other hand, views it as a sign of just due respect for one of the most influential managers in the franchise’s illustrious history.
