NEW YORK (WFAN) – Steve Somers was ecstatic on Tuesday night after the Mets’ 14-3 win over the Tigers. And can you blame him?

The Mets broke their long grand slam drought with two — two! — in one game, thanks to Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran. But that only accounts for two of their 18 hits.

For those of you keeping score at home, that’s 36 runs and 49 hits in the Mets’ last three games.

According to the Schmoozer, “not even Casey Kasem played that many hits!”
