The Mets host the Yankees this weekend at Citi Field as the two clubs meet for the second time this season, but this time around the Bombers will be without the player who has dominated this interleague rivalry -- Derek Jeter.

Jeter, who remains sidelined until at least next week with an injured calf, has appeared in 78 of the 81 regular season games the Mets and Yankees have played since interleague play began in 1997. He is the Yanks' leader in 10 other statistical categories against the Mets:

Jeter vs. Mets

Games 78
At Bats 320
Runs 64
Hits 122
Doubles 19
Triples 2
Home Runs 13
RBI's 43
Stolen Bases 18
Total Bases 184
Batting Avg .381

Jeter ranks 5th in walks vs. the Mets with 27 (Jorge Posada is the Yanks all-time leader with 35) and is 2nd in strikeouts (44, Posada has 52) and 2nd in slugging percentage (.575) trailing only Hideki Matsui (.586).

Mets' pitchers Jeter has fared the best against:

Johan Santana 10/16 .625
Steve Trachsel 9/17 .529
Oliver Perez 5/11 .455
Al Leiter 17/39 .436
Tom Glavine 7/18 .389
Bobby Jones 5/13 .385
Rick Reed 5/14 .357

Mets' pitchers Jeter has fared the worst against:

David Weathers 0/5 .000
Dan Wheeler 0/6 .000
Kevin Appier 0/6 .000
Aaron Heilman 1/8 .125
Glendon Rusch 1/8 .125
Mike Pelfrey 1/6 .167
Armando Benitez 1/5 .200

Jeter's .381 lifetime batting average against the Mets is also the best by any Mets opponent in club history:

Derek Jeter 122/320 .381
Rico Carty 114/300 .380
Don Slaught 56/149 .376
Jim Eisenreich 54/158 .365
Tony Gwynn 263/739 .356
Gene Richards 94/265 .355

Jose Reyes is the Mets' all-time leader in these seven categories against the Yankees:

Games 45
At Bats 182
Runs 28
Hits 48
Triples 2
RBI's 27
Stolen Bases 14

Reyes' .264 lifetime batting average against the Yankees ranks 5th among Mets all-time:

Roger Cedeno .323
Mike Piazza .317
David Wright .314
Todd Zeile .286
Jose Reyes .264

The Mets dropped their first four meeting with the Yankees at Citi Field but won the last two contests last season behind Mike Pelfrey and Johan Santana back on May 22nd and 23rd of 2010. The Yanks hold a 21-18 edge over the Mets in the 39 regular season games played in Flushing. The Mets are just 17 and 25 in the 42 games vs. the Yankees in the Bronx.

On their last homestand, Mets pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts in their 2-1, 13-inning win over the Oakland A's. The 16 K's tied the 6th-best, single-game strikeout total in club history. Here are the top five team strikeout performances by the Mets:

20 8/1/99 at Chi (13-inning game)
19 4/22/70 vs. SD (Seaver 19 K's)
19 10/6/91 at Phi (Cone 19 K's)
19 4/17/10 at Stl (20-inning game)
17 10/1/99 vs. Pit (11-inning game)

Speaking of Jeters, Derek Jeter is not the only player with the last name "Jeter" to appear against the Mets. From 1969 to 1972, an outfielder named Johnny Jeter faced the Mets while with the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres. In 25 career games against the Mets, Johnny Jeter hit just .205 with two home runs (vs. Gary Gentry and Buzz
Capra) and three RBI's.

Schwei's Runs, Hits and Errors:

Runs: 52 Pick-up. Mets explode for 52 runs in four-game winning streak, setting a club record for most runs scored in a four-game span.

Hits: Slam Watch Ends. Jason Bay's grand slam vs. the Tigers ends a club record 299-game stretch without a bases-loaded home run. (More on these feats in the next column)

Errors: Mike Pelfrey. He Suffers both Mets losses on six-game road trip, dropping his 2011 road record to 1 and 7 (3 and 0 at home).
