Investigators say the badly decomposed body was discovered in Fall Creek on Sunday about 50 miles from Bloomington, where the 20-year-old fashion major attended Indiana University.

The coroner determined the body retrieved from the creak is that of a young black woman who had possibly been in the water for more than two weeks. The woman's identity has not yet been determined.

Police, hundreds of volunteers and her parents, Robert and Charlene Spierer, have been searching for Spierer since she vanished while walking alone to her apartment around 4:30 a.m. on June 3 after a night out with friends.

Official, public searches were called off last week but police have said they will continue to investigate.
