Woman Dies After Jumping Off Tappan Zee Bridge With Man

NYACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police said a couple jumped from the Tappan Zee Bridge Tuesday morning, leaving a woman dead.

The 44-year-old man involved survived, but the 29-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after initially surviving the fall, which occurred around 9 a.m.

The couple apparently stopped their SUV in the southbound lane of the bridge, climbed on the hood of the vehicle, held hands and jumped, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported.

Witnesses also said that the couple was naked.

Construction workers under the bridge were the first to reach the victims in the Hudson River.

The man was taken to Nyack Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
