NYACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Police said a couple jumped from the Tappan Zee Bridge Tuesday morning, leaving a woman dead.

The 44-year-old man involved survived, but the 29-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after initially surviving the fall, which occurred around 9 a.m.

The couple apparently stopped their SUV in the southbound lane of the bridge, climbed on the hood of the vehicle, held hands and jumped, 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported.
