Scarsdale Event Raises Money For Lauren Spierer Search Effort

SCARSDALE, NY (CBS 2) — Westchester residents came together to raise money to continue the search for missing college student and Greenburgh native Lauren Spierer.

Women’s clothing boutique LF Scarsdale, along with Spierer’s friends, held an event Saturday called Headbands for Hope.

Friends say Spierer, who used to work at the store, loves wearing headbands. The store plans to donate a portion of Saturday’s sales to the search effort.

“The number of people who have reached out to us jumping at opportunities to do things, to donate and to help any way they can, to send their love out to the Spierers that all of us have been feeling, it’s overwhelmingly amazing,” said friend Rebecca Lefkowitz.

Spierer is an Indiana University sophomore. She disappeared six weeks ago after a night out with friends.

What’s in the Back of the Truck?

Around the time that Loren Spierer disappeared a truck was photographed by security cameras as it was heading westbound on 10th Street. The photograph shows Loren and her assailant in the back of the truck although for many people it is difficult to see.

The picture has been colorized so that anyone can clearly see Lauren Spierer and her assailant in the picture. That this is an accurate representation of the original photograph is illustrated by images that morph between black-and-white and colorized.
