Lunch Break: All Pigs Go To Heaven
Porcine pleasures, fried pickles, and a shop that has it all in today's New York Lunch Break. By Yvo Sin.

Though the name may encourage images of many happy pigs, rolling in their happy hog heaven, quite the opposite is true: any pigs have been dispatched and are there to make the customers happy. With menu categories such as "Cold Pig", "No Pig", "Hot Pig" and, you guessed it, "Hot No Pig", it's clear that the focus here is pig in every form. The stand out dish here is the BBQ spare ribs - a little smokey, a little sweet, a little Asian, a little southern, but all delicious. The sleeper hit, though, is definitely the Peking duck, which some claim is the best in the city.

Burgers & fries may draw you into Stand4, but there's plenty on the menu to occupy your time otherwise. First up: fried pickles, some of the best in the city, crunch like almost no other, revealing a bread&butter pickle chip underneath the perfectly fried exterior. The accompanying dipping sauce is tangy, but unnecessary. Next: the milkshakes, which are legit. Feel childish drinking a milkshake? No worries, order them with booze added! Try the toasted marshmallow milkshake, a perennial favorite of Stand4 customers. Bonus: the milkshakes are made with gelato from Il Laboratorio. Double bonus: Stand4 is one of the few places in the city that serves stadium mustard.
Battery Place Market
77 Battery Pl
Manhattan, NY 10280
Speaking of stadium mustard, Battery Place Market is one of the few shops around town that offer it to buy - but that's not where the fun stops. They have a wide selection of eclectic items laid out in the small space, and offer wonderful hot foods and prepared sandwiches (pictured: roast beef and organic truffle mayo) made with many items that you can also buy separately in the store itself. Robicelli's cupcakes are lined up behind a glass case, there for you to buy at the perfect size and price ($3) for a guilt-free afternoon snack, and the baristas will serve up a great latte made to go with it. Pro tip: Battery Place Market is on Seamless Web, with a delivery range of a mile, and will also deliver groceries to you - at no extra charge. Sweet.
