Renovations At Madison Square Garden Drive Business Across The Hudson

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey's entertainment centers are benefiting during renovation work at Madison Square Garden.

Newark's Prudential Center and the Izod Center in East Rutherford have seen an increase in concerts this summer because the Garden is closed.

Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Rihanna are among the artists who will perform in New Jersey.

Starting Monday night, the Prudential Center will host the first of four Swift concerts.

Devils Arena Entertainment president Rich Krezwick told The Star-Ledger of Newark it's busier at Prudential Center in part because Madison Square Garden is closed.

The Rock has also picked up 18 home games from the WNBA's Liberty.

The Garden will close this summer and the next two for a major renovation that is estimated to cost more than $775 million.
