Police: Off-Duty NYPD Officer Shot In Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Police in Miami say an off-duty New York City Police officer who was in Florida on vacation, has been shot.

Police say it happened around 7 a.m. Saturday at an apartment/hotel style building after the NYPD officer got into some sort of altercation. That’s when investigators say someone started shooting and the officer was wounded. Few details are known about what exactly happened and how many people were involved.

No arrests have been made. Police say the NYPD officer, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery.

No word on his condition.
