Former Mayor Ed Koch Rips President Obama’s Israel Policy; Endorses Republican To Send Message

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch is crossing party lines to endorse a Republican candidate for Congress, citing what he called President Barack Obama’s “hostility” towards Israel.

“President Obama imposes conditions on Israel — says the ’67 Lines — and doesn’t impose any conditions on the Palestinian Authority, which now includes Hamas, a terrorist organization,” Koch said.

Koch held a press conference Monday morning in which he threw his support behind businessman Bob Turner, who is running for the 9th Congressional District seat vacated by the scandal-scarred Anthony Weiner.

1010 WINS’ Stan Brooks Hears From The Former Mayor

Turner will be running against Democrat David Weprin.

“I disagree with him on the way he views the State of Israel and what I perceive to be his hostility,” Koch said.

Koch said the President’s demands on Israel would have a negative affect on its national security and was critical of his policy because it doesn’t make comparable demands to the Palestinians.

“I want to send a message that’s not the vision that New Yorkers and Jewish and Christian supporters of the State of Israel have,” Koch said.

Stan Brooks of 1010 WINS’ spoke with one Republican supporter of Turner who said Koch’s endorsement will help.

“This will make a lot of people take up and notice Bob more and see that he is a different candidate,” he said. “I think it’ll help people in Queens look at this in a serious note — especially the Democrats, the independents and I think this could turn the tide.”

Koch is right. Obama is the first American president since the Nation of Israel was formed to try and tthrow them under the bus in favor of the terrorists in Hamas who control the Palestinians veiw of Israel.
What else can you expect from a guy named Barack Hussein Obama?

  • The Facts

Palestine was a province of the Turkish Ottoman Empire which was defeated in World War I after having sided with Imperial Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The League of Nations made it a British mandate and it remained so until the end of World War II. The land was partitioned and Israel declared its independence in 1948. The United Nations recognized the new State of Israel which was promptly attacked by its neighbors. It has been on and off warfare ever since. I hope a peaceful resolution arrives in my lifetime but the parties involved are very stubborn.

People are going to be shocked to hear this, but I’m all for Israel’s right to defend its current borders against.

As fas as American support, the support that this relegious state receives is no different than the Vatican gets from the U.S. Oh wait, err, umm, err, well whatever!

More like impeach him for constantly thumbing his long lying nose at the Constitution and the Congress. The ‘Gun Walking ‘ scandal also comes to mind and also his incompetence comes to mind.

I think it is time for Koch to get assisted living.

  • James Stewart

If I am an unemployed American, why should give a rats a$$ about Israel and its borders!? What does that have to do with me and my ability to get a job here in the U. S. A.! Enough with this middle east BS. We need to focus on what’s going on here in America.

    • hb

when we opened trade with china, did you give a rats a$$. well, maybe you should have, because thats probable where your job is now

    • hb

how exactly does this help or not help you get a job?

  • Josh Epstein

Koch and others are unamerican!!! They care more about Israel than the US. Amazing that they will vote for someone based not on American issues but foreign…incredible

    • hb

so, when obama takes his postion, it is an act of patriotism. do you know what you’re talking about?

    • Christian C

It is as simple as that… all foreign politics aside… back someone you think will do the right job for the people of this city.. not to get back at someone.. how old is he again?

W.E.B. DuBois was living in Ghana, when it gained independence. The Ghanian government gave him citizenship as a way of bestowing honor, for his work. U.S. embassy representatives subsequently visited him and told him to surrender his U.S. passport because we do not allow dual citizenship. Koch campaigned for Senator Joe Lieberman’s reelection, also, primarily, over Israel. Lieberman has Israeli citizenship. Why is he allowed to keep his U.S. citizenship and remain in the Senate? Ghana has never attacked us, though they probably would have been justified, considering the treatment that its diplomats received trying to get a motel room on Delaware’s Route 40 before the Civil Rights Act was passed. Israel, on the other hand, attacked the USS Liberty, which was flying a large U.S. flag, that they claimed not to notice, and its crew has not been allowed to tell what happened.

According to a poll, published in the Jewish weekly, the Forward, a clear majority of Jews support a return to the 1967 borders with adjustments. Also, a comparable demand doesn’t have to be made on the Palestinian Authority because they already support a return to the 1967 borders, with adjustments.

    • I'm Jewish, I'm Proud, I'm Sorry

      Ah, the self depricating Jews.

they fought to destrou Israel, Lost. Lost their land in the struggle. Why do they get back again? Explain how this works, again. You lose and call for a do over?
      Oh, I see.

      • Jeninus

How are the Palestinians any different than the Germans, who lost East Prussia, Pomerania and Silesia in WWII. No one suggests that they have a claim on what is now Polish territory, do they? Should Romania return Transylvania to the Hungarians – with adjustments? Should the Russians return Karelia to the Finns, or Northern Sakhalin Island to the Japanese? No, when you engage in war and you lose, you lose.

What Koch did was eliminate rent control for we poor working people
and give what were great neighborhoods to his real estate shark friends
    at his Temple.
His ego so large & does not match the little he did in office
for other than the real estate developers.
He helped make a great ethnic NYC look like any other generic city.
That’s his legacy and I will never call the 59th street bridge the Koch bridge.
His ego knows no stopping but I will P on his grave.that is my revenge.
He is starting to look like a skeleton ,I may have not to long to wait.
Oh yes he was for Rudy Gulinani also ,another winner that made big bucks
in the private sector after their “uncivil” service ,ugh!

Beth and Julia Lynn. You might like wearing burka, you might like being dumb, you voted a man who could not keep his own finances in place, who made career in the most corrupted place in the US. Of course he can make a choice, and we all can judge him for that voicing our support or displeasure..But you would have known that if…

    • Rodin

I was really trying to answer you intelligently and having trouble with CBS accepting mu post but, after reading this arrogant, boorish, uncalled for derisive remark, I’m going to bed. It’s people who are ignorant and have no argument to contribute who resort to insult. You’re really not worth my effort or attention.

  • Alex

Rodin, the Palestinians never played the game because there never been any Palestinians! Who are they?
On the separate note, if you, mr Rodin is not Muslim, then you are being hunted by Jihad.. US does not help Israel, the money are not the paper bills that are sent there, At least not all of them. Often it’s an old equipment counted at inflated prices. Why giving it to Israel? Once jihad there is over, who is it going to be next in line? But I think, mr Rodin, you know all that.

    • Rodin

I don’t know why I even bother. I was going to bed when I checked for an e-mail I’m expecting and I get this. I wish people like you informed yourselves before coming out with your absurdities. Where do you get this junk???

According to the congressional Research Service, Israel is the largest recipient of U.S. aid, an approximately $3.09 billion a year, that amounting to more than $500 for every Israeli man woman and child.grants.

  • julialynn

Obama has my vote in 2012 The israelis practice genocide upon the Palestinians and steal their land. They are as bad as any other genocidal group. God bless Obama’s mideast policy and may the Palestinian people live to see their own country in this lifetime.

    • hb

so i assume you will be moving off your Indian propery soon?

  • Alex

What peace are we supporting? How naive… Arabs are Muslims. Islam calls for Jihad. Jihad means convert to Islam or kill. Where is peace there?
Creation of so called Palestinian state is called in place of Israel, as the means of destroying her, not next to it. If giving helped in any way, it would already. Arabs started all the wars and lost them all, and I believe — the winner takes it all!

  • Beth 1953

    Mr. Mayor
Obama has the right to make his view
clear about Israel. The U.S. has
has done more for Israel including
    giving them momey but something
has got to give in that country.

Palestinians get plenty of money from the USA. Face it, Obama hates Israel and wants to see it destroyed.

thats because there are many jews in office. Part of all the corruption.

They were elected, did you vote?

      • Rodin

Yes I do. But your comment is meaningless because, where there are concentrations of Jews, whether in the City or in places like Kyras Joel or Monsey, they demonstrably vote in block whoever the Rabbi anoints and it’s always one of their own.

  • Bingo

I still think Ed Koch and Frank Perdue are the same person

  • Rodin

For those of you so agreeable to Ed Koch and damning of the President on this issue, please explain to me how come his administration is so disposed to officially recognize a motley band of disorganized rebels in Libya and won’t support efforts at the UN to recognize a Palestinian state, why it shields Israel from international nuclear regulation and defends its secrecy while demanding “transparency” from others and why it turns a blind eye at every egregious, blatant and shameless human rights violation (mayor and repeated offenses endemic to Benjamin Netanyahu’s tenure).

    • Groucho Marx

Hey Rodin – Israel has no oil. The Arab countries do. Nobody will be there to defend the small country of Israel that fought for independence, not once but in 1948, 1956, 1973 and is constantly in a state of WAR because of people like you who like to distort the facts. When you shoulder a rifle and join the IDF, you can complain all you want about Israel. You live in the US that is threatened by the same forces that are sworn to destroy Israel. Here you live in relative peace. The Israelis have only enjoyed peace for a brief period of time. The Camp David Accords provided that for several years. If the terrorists would stop attacking Israel, the “palestinas” would be able to live in peace.

The OPEC countries are given far more financial aid and assistance from the US. The US provides money to protect Saudi Arabia. This is to defend the oil fields and keep the oil flowing to the west. So if you have other issues with Israel, that’s your bigoted problem. It’s all about the oil.

As the late Prime Minister Golda Meir once said “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

If you feel so strongly, stop being a wheel chair general and join the army. Put up or shut up.

      • Rodin

Where there are no legitimate arguments, bluster and insult must suffice. Maybe you’ll be heard.

A little hot under the collar, are you? When it comes to Israel, it’s the Jews who turn bigoted — Fascist. Call it Zionism, if you like. You learned your lesson well from an unsparing schulmeister. YOU are a prime example. Couldn’t have produced a better one had I tried with a magic wand and a top hat.

        What all schoolchildren learn,
Those to whom evil is done
        Do evil in return.
        ~ W.H. AUDEN

      • Rodin

Israel can do no wrong. Pardon me, the “chosen people” of the “promised land!” Israelis are occupiers. Being “constantly in a state of war” is the price to pay for that ever expanding occupation, untenable were it not for that American SECRET, off budget aid.

      • Rodin

What we get in exchange is insults and snubs from Israeli leaders, trillion dollar wars and some 6,ooo (to date) flag-draped coffins dumped at Dover Air Force Base in the dead of the night.

From the “OPEC countries” (read Arabs) we at least get oil. As for “shouldering rifles,” I ‘done my duty.’ in my time. Did you? I’m too old to die young. ‘Complain’ about Israel. I could care less about Israel, Zion or its bogus bilical claims, a so-called country that was nothing more tyhan a dumping ground for displaced European Jews nobody wanted, particularly not the United States.

      • Rodin

What I do care deeply about is the abuse and humiliation Israelis impose on those whose land they unceremoniously grabbed.

““Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . .. I want to tell you something very clear: Don’t worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it.” – Ariel Sharon

  • Paul Plaine

I think what’s good for AMERICA come first. Israel thinks what’s good for Israel comes first.I was raised Catholic that doesn’t mean I jump for the Pope. I’m second generation Irish and French i would not base my vote against any person running for office because he or she opposed policies of these countries. As I said AMERICA come first.

    • Ben

      Absolutely correct, Paul.

    • Rodin

Unfortunately for Jews, American Jews, all Jews the world over, what whatever their leanings may otherwise be, Israel always comes first.

      • Ben

Rodin: You couldn’t be more wrong. What a gross generalization.

  • Ben

Divided loyalties from Koch. I assume he’s for the settlements and their continuation. He’s living in the Dark Ages. He should use his Right of Return and get the hell out of this country…this country that has been so good to him. What’s HIS solution to the problem? Notice, he doesn’t give any. Just the same tired argument that returning to the ’67 borders would be suicide for Israel, which it would not…except if Israel returned the Golan Heights, and even then. He PERCEIVES that Obama is hostile. Why doesn’t he explain why he has those perceptions? Obviously, he’s a right-wing Zionist nut (like Netanyahu) who would like the violence to continue.

  • marty griffin

Finally a politician calling Obama for what he is , A MUSLIM.

    • Ben

      Marty, you’re an ignorant idiot.

      • Rodin

Ben, ignore him. He IS an idiot. It’s his game. But, even unaware, my appraisal of him WAS accurate: “a dime a dozen, common, vulgar, arrogant bigot.”

Ugandan born, Indonesian bred, 110% NOT American, Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

    • Rodin

      And what if he were?

I always liked Koch. We were neighbours at 2 Fifth Avenue for many years but, quite frankly, I think he’s getting senile. Not that he wasn’t always a supporter of Israel. Unlike yourself. You are not. I get a sense, from your phrasing, that you care little about Israel, Jews or Palestinians, but won’t pass a chance to scurrilously dump on the President, turning a common religious affiliation into a slur. Double fault, right? Muslim! What you really would like to say is ni@@er. Guys like you always betray themselves. You slip on the venom you spew, on your own vomit. You probably think you’re clever. Ed Koch may be getting on in years. You’re a dime a dozen, common, vulgar, arrogant bigot.

      • marty griffin

Rodin has been caught wacking off in Central Park numerous times. he also likes to suck —-.

      • Rodin

So this is your newest disguise? Different name same arse! You had me fooled there. Thanks for giving yourself up. I won’t waste any more of my time on you.

WARNING TO ALL WHO READ THIS: it’s the chameleon, the chimera. Everything changes except the insults. Confront it and it turns into you. IGNORE.

Too bad, I was hoping to have an interesting debate. Them’s the brakes.

      • Ben

I guess you know that he likes to suck, Marty, from first-hand experience?

  • Michael

Lemme guess a Jew hating on Obama because of his middle east policies. Bloomberg (another Jew) is in the same boat. Why don’t they realize that there is NO Israel and it’s just a falsely created state.

    • Rodin

Yes there is. There’s an occupying force in Palestine. Don’t you know?

    • Ben

Have to disagree with you there, Michael. Israel is a nation. A last-vestige-of-colonialism nation, but still a nation.

      • Rodin

Unfortunately NOT the “last-vestige-of-colonialism.” There’s always Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S.Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the assorted Minor Outlying Islands.

    • Stan R

Let me ask you a question. Prior to 1948 was there a country named Palestine? If so, who was their leader? What type of government did they have? What currency did they use? You can’t answer because there never was a country called Palestine.

  • Mitch

Mayor Kotch, one of NY Citys BEST Mayor’s ever

    • BROWN

      You are not even CLOSE!

He was NYC’s worst mayor, EVER!

Koch and his adminnistration took the city back to looking like nothing more then a third world country….YUCK!

You should be held upside down until some sense drops into your head.

Then again with a comment like the one you made, there will never be hope for you, go swallow TNT!

    • Ben

Can’t even spell the man’s name yet he’s one of NYC’s best mayors.

SHHH…. Ed Koch has somethingto say.

Ed Koch doesn’t have a following. Ed Koch was a despicable Mayor during his time in NYC. He was a mayor who destroyed the lives of hundres of thousands of New Yorkers, now he wants to say what’s good for the people of Queens, go back and kick rocks Ed Koch.

This is not his first time crossing party lines, in fact he is really a Republican that trys to fool people into thinking he is a democrat, he never stand sup for the little guys/gals and small business or in that case, promote local business.

Ed Koch is not doing anything that wasn’t epected by talking about the President in which he did.

Hey Ed Koch, why don’t you go on record and talk about how you were against all blacks and hispanics durinh your time as Mayor. You are still that same absent minded person.

Stop reaching for the attention of the media and others.

You are no Democrat, more like an exposed deteriating RAT!

  • Rodin

So, according to Ed Koch, to qualify for a position in Congress, a candidate must be a supporter of the State of Israel…. How about being a supporter of the United States? Besides, Israel already have Shoemerd in the senate. He’s just wanting to replace Joe Lieberman, the other senator from Israel.

Want to cut the Budget, cut the National debt?

1 – Tax religious institutions. Their advantage, legitimate voice in government (secular) affairs.

“No tax in any amount, large or small, can be levied to support any religious activities or institutions, whatever they may be called, or whatever form they may adopt to teach or practice religion.” ~ HUGO L. BLACK, Supreme Court Justice

Is not a tax exemption tantamount to “support [of] religious activities or institutions?”

2 – Stop funding the Israeli war machine:
$3.09 billion a year or so per year that Israel receives from the U.S. amounts to over $500 per Israeli. Most of this money is earmarked in the annual Foreign Operations (foreign aid) appropriations bills, with the three major items being military grants (Foreign Military Financing, or FMF), economic grants (Economic Support Funds, or ESF), and “migration and refugee assistance.”
