Reports: Plaxico Burress To Meet With Giants, Discuss Possible NY Reunion

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Plaxico Burress is in New York, ready to meet with coach Tom Coughlin and the Giants to discuss an unlikely second chance reunion, according to multiple reports.

Burress has "warmed to the idea and is much more receptive to" returning to the Giants, wrote the Daily News. The New York Post reports Burress is "seriously considering" Big Blue.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Burress was to meet with the Giants on Wednesday, but NFL rules say teams cannot meet with free agents until Friday.

Meeting or no meeting, is seems Burress has fielded phone calls from a pair of notable Giants. Co-owner Steve Tisch and quarterback Eli Manning have reached out to the wide receiver, reported The Post.

But some wonder whether Burress, outspoken about his distaste for Coughlin's coaching style, is a good fit for New York.

"I don't see how the Giants can go down the Plaxico road again," WFAN's Craig Carton said on Wednesday.

Morning show co-host Boomer Esiason agreed: "How can you put your head coach in that situation?"

The wide receiver and Coughlin haven't always seen eye to eye. Burress called his relationship with Coughlin "ambivalent" in a television interview days after his June 6 release from prison on a gun charge.

Burress later told SiriusXM's NFL Radio in July that "the head coach is going to be first and foremost" in his decision where to sign next.

It appears Burress is ready to patch things up with Coughlin.

"I really don't know what I'm going to say," Burress told the Star-Ledger. "I'm just going to go in there tomorrow and speak from the heart, be truthful with him and let him know how I feel. Whatever comes out is going to come out.

"I'm pretty sure there are things he wants to say, too."

Should the Giants give Burress a second chance? Sound off in the comments below...
