B&C Morning Show: Asomugha, Plaxico And Much More To Update

Early on in his first update of the morning, Jerry 'Rello' Recco turned to the trusty "WFAN Boomer & Carton Von Stecker 2011 NFL Free-Agent Tracker" to get us up to speed on what's happening in the fast and furious free agency period. Teams will be officially allowed to sign their free agents tonight at 6 p.m..

Brad Smith grew tired of waiting around for the Jets and agreed to a deal far north in Buffalo with the Bills.  The Giants are bringing back Mathias Kiwanuka, but word is defensive end Osi Umenyiora is planning to hold out for a new contract.

As for the Mets, Howie Rose had a passionate call for Jason Bay's 5th inning double that knocked IN 3 runs.  Bay had 3 hits on the day - raising his average to .230 - and Boomer was encouraged that despite his 'baby blues' Bay was able to accomplish his 3-4, 3 RBI performance during a day game - a game the Mets won (their 4th in-a-row) by a score of 10-9 over the Reds in Cincinnati.

Carlos Betran made his debut with the Giants in Philadelphia and went 0-4 in a win and we also learned that former Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu was found dead after an apparent suicide...
