Gotham Gossipist: James Franco Takes On New Role As Art Teacher

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Let's hope that James Franco is a better teacher than he is award show host.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes star has added a new job to his already diverse portfolio: Art teacher.

According to The Huffington Post, Franco and director Gus Van Sant will lead a seminar-style class at MoMA PS1.  Students (you know, the ones that aren't slack-jawed and drooling) will discuss contemporary practice with artists, authors, musicians, curators, theorists and scholars.

Franco is no stranger to the inside of a classroom. He's currently a PhD candidate in English at Yale, a decision that may have been behind his recent breakup with long-time girlfriend Ahna O'Reily - the two moved from Los Angeles to New York when James decided to pursue multiple masters degrees.

While still working full-time as an actor, Franco was at Columbia University's MFA writing program, and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for filmmaking, he even studied fiction at CUNY's Brooklyn College campus. Maybe Ahna couldn't handle any more of his all-nighters.

So, basically ladies: He's single, smart, rich, and you can totally sign up to be hot for teacher.  Go get him.
