Stephen Meany, visiting from London with his wife Sean, have walked seven miles a day since arriving in New York City about seven days ago.

On Tuesday, they walked to the World Trade Center and back from their hotel near Central Park.

Meany says he likes the ease of getting around on foot but his wife dislikes the frequent stops at the traffic lights.

A man from New Orleans says there is so much to see and do when you're on foot.

"The smallest, most rudimentary map will get you anywhere you need to go," he says.

A woman from the suburbs says, "The people are fascinating. The traffic is awful. The shopping is good."

Walk Score says New York City ranks number one because there is so much in such a compact area.

Walk Score also found that people who live in walkable cities weigh six to ten pounds less than those who live in areas where cars are necessary to get around.

The rest of the top ten most walkable cities in the U.S. are, in order, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington, Miami, Minneapolis, and Oakland.
