9 Firefighters Injured In Early Morning Blaze In SoHo

NEW YORK (CBS 2) — An early morning fire in SoHo leaves 10 people injured, including nine firefighters.

The fire started around 2 a.m. Friday on Thompson Street. Flames shot from the upper levels of the seven-story building after breaking out in the basement.

Firefighters used ladder trucks, trying to get the fire under control. The FDNY says one person was hurt as well as nine firefighters.

All the injuries are reported to be minor.

No word yet on how the fire started.

So far the Red Cross has housed 8 families, and has been on the scene since shortly after the fire was reported.

I hope the people dislocated have renters’ insurance. So few people do…and the landlord is not responsible for any of their belongings.

Terrible ,but amazingly no real fatalities with a rapid fire
    in an old tenement building.
