The cremains were claimed from Lakeview Memorial Home in Clifton, Codey Funeral Home in Orange, Day Funeral Home in Keyport, and the Aug F. Schmidt Funeral Home in Elizabeth.

All but two of the men served in World War II.

"We're burying veterans that have been lying on shelves and funeral homes for over 40, 50 years that have been abandoned," Francis Carrasco, Chairman of the New Jersey Mission of Honor for Cremains of American Veterans, said.

The veterans were interred at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
