We heard from Giants head coach Tom Coughlin early on during Jerry Recco’s first update of the morning, and he didn’t sound too thrilled with the news that Steve Smith had shunned Big Blue in favor of the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.

With Smith no longer an option, Craig and Jerry discussed the questionable receiving corps the Giants currently have in place.  Craig concluded that the Giants have ‘giant’ problems at the receiver position (see what I did there?!?!?).

We also heard some audio from a sad Jerry Reese — or at least that’s what we were told.

After that we heard from the always entertaining John Sterling, as he had a couple of good calls for Curtis Granderson’s pair of round-trippers last night in the Bronx.  In part due to Granderson’s prowess at the plate, the Yankees halted their 3-game slide with a 9-3 win over the Angels.  Ivan Nova got his 11th win of the year and afterward we heard audio of A.J. Burnett reacting to his rookie teammate’s effort to remain in the Yankees starting rotation  — and it sounded an awful lot like a sobbing Jerry Reese…Hmmm…

The Mets lost to the Padres 9-5 and R.A. Dickey takes the blame, Braves second baseman Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 31 games and once again Craig predicts big things from Tiger Woods in the PGA Championship, which gets underway today…
