B&C Morning Show: Swinging Swish, Miserable Mets, Banged Up Giants

The great Jerry "Rello" Recco gave us his first update of the morning, and there wasn't a whole lot of positivity to report from the New York sports scene.

First, the Yankees comeback effort fell short against the A's last night. Nick Swisher flew out to end the game on a 2-0 count with the bases loaded, and Craig reiterated that he thought this demonstrated a lack of baseball IQ on Swish's part.

Jerry and Boomer played the other side of the coin on this issue, saying that not only was Swisher in a hitter's count, the pitch was right down the middle and was really only a matter of feet from leaving the park for a game-winning grand slam.

On a side note, the guys suggested that someone take the A.J. Burnett middle finger picture around the Yankee clubhouse to get some reaction, especially given how fiery Girardi's reaction was when asked about any rift between he Burnett in Minnesota.

Then came those miserable Mets, who once again got smacked by the Phillies last night. Terry Collins needs a hug.

Speaking of needing a hug, the Giants' injury woes continued much to the dismay of head coach Tom Coughlin. The defense took two more blows when they lost 2nd round draft pick Marvin Austin and free-agent cornerback Brian Witherspoon to what will likely be season-ending injuries.

And finally, hear what Panthers' owner Jerry Richardson had to say about his new quarterback, the infamous Cam Newton, as well as his policy on tattoos and piercings.
