Whoopi Goldberg Adopts Kitten Allegedly Tossed From Verrazano Bridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Actress and television co-host Whoopi Goldberg has adopted the 2-month old kitten that was allegedly tossed out of a car window on the Verrazano Bridge last month.

On her Facebook page, Goldberg wrote that she was finally able take the kitten home, but that her other cat, “Oliver,” was not too happy about the move.  However, Whoopi wrote that she thinks the new kitten will eventually win him over.

“I think he’ll get Oliver to come around sooner than later,” she wrote.

The kitten, named “Verrazano” by employees of the New York City Animal Care & Control, was rescued and taken to the organization’s Staten Island care center after the incident.

Witnesses said that the kitten was thrown out of the window of a moving car and an animal control officer stopped his vehicle and rescued the kitten.

Goldberg said that the kitten has been nicknamed “Vinny.”

Why are people bashing New York because of a story about saving a kitten. We are all part of the same country so, in a way, you’re bashing yourself! . Shouldn’t you just be happy that the kitten is doing well and has been given a great home? This is the problem today. Let’s stop nit-picking about EVERYTHING and work together for the good of our country. Why can’t we just be greatful for the good things in life, no matter how small it may seem. We just keep tearing ourselves apart instead of trying to help one and other. Come on America…get it together. Way to go Whoopi….thanks for caring. I’m sure you’ll give that little cutie a great home.

No better people than New Yorkers and NYC a liberal area of the USA.
Actually we should become our own State , Anyone that does not like
it here ,can leave and this city won’t notice it one bit or care.
    Back to the cat.
Perhaps a show biz person is not he best to have this abused pet as they usually
are away, the cats need to be properly introduced to each other the Animal
    Shelter should have given instructions.

Please don’t say such horrible things about NYers. I would trust a New Yorker to do the right thing in any situation! Think about it, the officer did not have to sto, you know. He could have just kept going, but he didn’t.
I have to tell you that living in other places, people treat animals badly, no matter where you are. It is a disgusting thing!
NY *is* the greatest city in the USA!
