Police Arrest Oneil Dasilva, Suspect In Bronx House Party Shooting That Left 8 Injured

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A second suspect is under arrest in connection with a Bronx house party shooting that left eight people hospitalized.

Police had been searching for Oneil Dasilva since Sunday’s incident in Williamsbridge.

Investigators say the 17-year-old opened fire at a party on East 221st Street, hitting eight people. Three of the victims were under 15-years-old.

Dasilva faces eight counts of attempted murder.

Another suspect, 21-year-old Phillip Muir, was arrested Monday.

Sixty-seven people were shot in New York City over the Labor Day weekend.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said there are “still too many guns on the street” and said some of the shootings over the weekend were related to festivities stemming from the West Indian Day Parade.

In an exclusive interview with CBS 2 on Tuesday, Kelly said he wants more “boots on the ground.”

What’s the penalty now for possession of an illegal weapon?

    It should be jail time.

    Where is this kid’s mother?

    irresponsibility all the way around

  • Surfin Bird

These type of people 98 percent of the time have guns on them at the parties that they are attending.

No wonder why the police and EMT’s make alot of overtime.

Ever contemplate moving out of NYC? Say to upstate where there is less crime, where you can defend yourself and your family, where you can own a firearm(s), where criminals actually go to jail, where you can walk the streets in safety. Oh! It’s just too dull and boring in upstate; no car horns, police sirens, useless construction noises; only the birds and the wind. Well to each his own; don’t forget to check over your shoulder.

      Huff my buttstank.

When are we going to be half civilized and banish all guns. It seems to work just fine in Europe, and they have a better economy than us to boot.

    • jeff

Is practically impossible to legally obtain a handgun in NY anyway, so how would this have been prevented with the illegalization of guns?

      • The Facts

Any law abiding adult can apply for a handgun license for home or business protection by visiting police headquarters and undergoing a background investigation. Unless you have serious issues, you will get the license.

    • The Facts

Thank God we Americans have the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. You can move to Europe.

Another Irishman gone bad. What, he’s not Irish? Then what’s with the name Oneill? Oh, his ancestors were named after their Slave Overseer and owners, makes sense now.

I’m waiting for his Mom to say, “I don’t believe it. He’s a good kid.”

Just execute these 2 animals. They are 100% total and complete wastes of life and will never do anything meaningful to contribute to society.

    • Stephen Smith

Single-Mother oriented Sub-Groups are the spawning ground for dysfunctional boys, then young men. I’ve taught at every level of P/S plus College. Nowadays i’m a youth Minister. From Harlem to S I it’s the same identical picture. Check-out the disturbing statics re-crime and these young men, presented by Dr Phil & Judge Mathis.

  • Keith J Maynard

Certain sub-groups need to admit that ‘Single Motherhood,’ and the denial of Male Role Models for young men, is dysfunctional. I was both a College & P/S teacher for 23 years, after Military Service. Nowadays I’m a Youth Minister. This ‘Fatherless Home’ that today’s women cherish, is destroying their boys and, Society. Dr Phil & Judge Mathis’ statistics are ‘frighteningly’ correct!

For St Patricks day parade everyone is scrutinized for the carrying of beer or liquor. How about applying the same tactic to the West Indian day parade. Just change the focus to guns……..

  • James

To quote a famous line…only a fool trusts his life to a weapon.

    • Rich

Hey james seems as those without weapons were the ones shot and killed. Now just whom is the fool!

      • Stephen Smith

Tommy, your comment made my day.

      • Tommy

Hey Rich, read about the IHOP shooting from yesterday. There was a guy who owned a BBQ place next door to the IHOP that heard the shooting, grabbed his gun to see what was going on, saw the gunman approaching….and STILL DID NOTHING!!!!!!

        You were saying.

(insert…well if it was me he would have had a 3rd eye, blah blah blah)

  • Lee

Whatever happened to talking confrontations out, or at least putting up your fists and duking it out? All these guys who are so quick to raise their guns these days, hide in the shadows, and fire their bullets are nothing but cowards. Not even close to real men.

  • Raf Man

Hmm, he was only 17, so he most certainly didn’t have a legal permit to carry that handgun. But Hizonnor Bloomberg wants to further restrict the 2nd amendment rights of law abiding citizens in response.

    • Tommy

Illegal guns genius…too many illegal guns on the streets
