NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — On a day dominated by football talk, the Islanders made a minor trade.

New York traded forward David Toews to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations.

The move was announced Friday. The 21-year-old Toews is the younger brother of Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

Originally selected by the Islanders 66th overall in the 2008 entry draft, Toews spent two seasons at North Dakota, notching nine goals and 17 assists in 55 NCAA games with the Fighting Sioux.

He had 20 goals, 28 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 60 regular-season games with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings last season. He had two goals and five assists in six playoff games.
