Sexual Fetish At Issue As Barbara Sheehan Testifies In Her Murder Trial

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The trial of a Queens woman who has admitted killing her husband, claiming it was self defense, took a bizarre turn in court Tuesday.

In her cross-examination, prosecutor Debra Pomodore suggested that Barbara Sheehan had killed her ex-cop husband not out of fear, but because he tried to force her to engage in a sexual fetish.

That fetish was one that involved her husband, Raymond, wearing a diaper and calling her ‘mommy,’ WCBS 880’s Irene Cornell reported.

The prosecutor claimed that when the couple made a trip to Albany, Raymond Sheehan sent out an e-mail saying that they were looking for someone to participate in this sexual fantasy.

Barbara Sheehan, however, denied that she ever went on the Internet to see what infantilism was all about.

There was an indirect admission that she participated when she said, “He’d make me do it in my own house. I didn’t want to get beaten.”

Sheehan has admitted killing her husband in their Howard Beach home in 2008 and said she carried a gun out of fear. She claims she was the victim of years of abuse at the hands of her husband.

In court Monday, wringing her hands and at times crying, Sheehan nervously testified that her husband would call her “stupid, fat and a terrible mother” and would choke her, knock her down, step on her and spit in her face.

On the night of the killing, prosecutors said Sheehan shot her husband 11 times in a hail of bullets. The District Attorney’s office has called it an execution killing, not an act of self-defense. The DA said there is no way to justify firing 11 shots, that Sheehan could have left anytime, but did not.

Family and friends have expressed support of Sheehan, who they said was only trying to protect herself.

The kids suffered, too. It’s sad some don’t understand domestic violence. I’m glad all the people living in that house knew it wasn’t pre-meditated. There’s something wrong in any household when a mom has to carry a gun. I got lucky and divorced the sexual pervert I married. I got to his gun first because I knew what the psychotic blank stare meant. I was tired of the blackouts the creep had. I was very glad my children weren’t home when their dad psyched out to the point I had to get to the gun first. It wasn’t my kids fault their dad thought he was a cop. Like my ex, this so-called sergeant, perverted the law. My ex was certifiably crazy. Crazed cops are the last people to think they’re crazed. Any semblance of force is perversion. The wife lived in total fear every moment of her life with this man. So did the children. I’m glad Barb and her kids have a meager amount of peace knowing he’s off our planet. Too many people are dying because of domestic violence. Not all cops do business like my ex and Barb’s husband, but too many are getting killed because of Domestic Violence.
Barb and her kids are not only victims, they are targets for warped people who have to pervert the law to keep themselves sexually stimulated. I’m sad she might have to go to jail for defending herself.

She is a murderer and should go to prison. It is way too easy for a woman to claim abuse these days, and use it as justification for killing her husband or her kids. Domestic abuse does happen (often), but sometimes a woman’s claims are b.s.

put this basterd in jail forever you dont kill someone you pack you bags and leave she better have police reoprts and how many times has she been to the dr with reports of beatings i bet none what a joke

  4. Reverend Rev says:

The bottom line is that she shot a COP. No trial, no jury. Automatic death penalty. Period. End of discussion.

(Retirement is irrelevant. Once a cop, always a cop.)

    1. mj says:

      you’re right … once a cop ALWAYS A COP …. give her a medal

      1. Reverend Rev says:

My point is that her husband was, effectively, still a cop, so she had NO LEGAL RIGHT to shoot him, or to defend herself against him, or even to complain about him.

Her job was to physically honor his badge, and she failed to do that.

        1. Unbelievable says:

Rev Rev, how twisted are you? Whether or not this man was an officer does not give him or anyone else the right to physically, mentally or sexually abuse another person. Why would the fact that he is a cop differentiate him from any other psycho?

          1. Reverend Rev says:

Easy – cops are Legally Designated Heroes (thanks to G.W. Bush) and thus are due absolute respect and 100% obedience.

By abusing her, he was ORDERING her to accept his abuse. She disobeyed a direct police order, and thus merits a minimum sentence of life without parole.

            1. marc says:

              You’re being sarcastic, right?

        2. joseph pagan says:

Man what are you? A male chauvinist pig Mr. Reverend Rev. He was an abusive husband? Maybe 11 bullets were an overkill but she had to do what she had to do. Who was she going to call, The Cops, for what, so that they can push it under the rug because he was one of their own. He was a pig, abusive, controlling, and probably would threaten to kill her if she didn’t do what he said. Happens all the time. Fortunately, she did not give him the chance to kill her first.

        3. RP Ben Civenga says:

What planet is the Rev Rev on ? You missed the entire case !!!

  5. val says:

Someone like that cannot just leave. He would have come after her and probably killed her. And what about the kids? Years of abuse (physical and emotional) can make a person snap. I can’t blame her. It’s not like she went out and murdered someone for money or drugs.

  6. Glenn Erdmann says:

Let her go, she sufered enough that the hands of her husband.

-He was telling the truth, she is stupid and fat.

      1. Glenn Erdmann says:

Why not use your real name as i do and not hide behind an idiotic screen name. Are you afraid of something, or do you just have no balls. My guess is the later.

      2. Glenn Erdmann says:

        You are a wimp.

        1. JJ says:

double chinned pupputeer you are probably an abuser . or a cop. oh wait, that is a synonym

  7. Vik says:

The Facts — if he abused and threatened her, 11 bullets weren’t nearly enough.

She is a cold blooded murderer, plain and simple. Look at her enjoying herself.

      1. JJ says:

Double chinned LOL why dont you tell us your name. double chinned wimp

    2. Cvale says:

The Facts, IF she concocted this bizarre tale to somehow justify his murder 1 bullet was too many ! Even if he did want to act out on the fetish is that a reason to give this guy lead poisoning ?

      1. The Facts says:

This comment should have been directed to Vik, not The Facts.

  8. The Facts says:

There is no excuse for premeditated murder.

    1. The Facts Are... says:

Who are you to pass judgement before all “the facts” are known? Thankfully, in this fine country of ours, we are innocent until proven guilty. I am not saying this woman is innocent, but she, like any other of our citizens, deserves a fair trial.

      1. anna says:

Since she’s the only one left to tell any stories, perhaps we should also be fair to the deceased. Why does everyone assume she is telling the truth?

        1. JJ says:

Their kids, the ONLY other 2 people living in the house are telling the same TRUTH as her. It was NOT pre-meditated. I love how all you people sit behind computer screens and comment when you obviously don’t know the facts of the case.

      2. The Facts says:

I just call them as I see them. It’s still a free country.
