Syracuse, Jim Boeheim Ready To Move On From Big East

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Coach Jim Boeheim is wistful about Syracuse's decision to leave the Big East Conference, but says it's time to move on.

Listen: Jim Boeheim with Mike Francesa

Boeheim, the all-time leader in conference wins with 338 says today in an interview that "the one thing you have to understand about this move — we're not leaving the Big East we were the founding fathers for — a nine-or 10-team league in the same geographical area. We wouldn't have left that conference."

Boeheim says football has driven all the expansions the conference has had.

It raided the Atlantic 10 for West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Villanova, and Conference USA for Louisville, for Cincinnati, and Marquette.

And he has no qualms about an ACC tournament in Greensboro, N.C., because, during tournaments, he just goes to the games and eats and sleeps at the hotel anyway.
