Elderly Woman Killed In Bronx Apartment Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police say an 87-year-old woman was killed and a 91-year-old man injured in an afternoon fire in the Bronx.

It happened around noon Thursday at an apartment on Johnson Avenue. When police arrived, they were told the two victims were inside the apartment in Riverdale.

The two were taken to the hospital where the woman, 87-year-old Cornelia Dykshoorn, died. The man is in critical condition. He has not yet been identified.

No word on what caused the fire.
