Justin Tuck On WFAN: I Didn't Have MRI 'On My Neck'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Did Justin Tuck have an MRI?

If so, on what?

The Giants defensive leader told WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Tuesday that he didn't have an exam on his aggravated neck as reported, but appeared to hint that something else could have been looked at.

"The neck's good," said Tuck. "Just precautionary stuff. It's football, guys are gonna get banged up. So don't worry about it, I'll be out there Sunday."

According to reports, Tuck had an MRI on his neck Monday. Not so, says the defensive end.

"I did not have an MRI on my neck," he said. "I don't know how that got out."

Emphasis on the "on my neck." Boomer & Carton weren't about to let that slide. So did Tuck have an MRI on something else, maybe on his strained groin?

"I did not have an MRI on my neck," he reiterated.

Third time's a charm?

Tuck replied verbatim: "I did not have an MRI on my neck."

MRI or no MRI, Tuck knows the NFL is a cutthroat league. Teams often go after injuries, as Mathias Kiwanuka stated before the Giants' matchup against Sam Bradford and the Rams in Week 2.

"I think a lot of teams know I have been having a little issue with it," Tuck told Mike Francesa on Monday. "I don't want to be Michael Vick here, but they are kind of going at my head a little bit too. It is going to be something that we can battle through and it is something that I can battle through right now. As long as I can battle through it, I am going to continue to play and hopefully we can get it quieted down here."

Speaking of Michael Vick and Sunday's 29-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Tuck said when the Giants are seemingly down and out, that's their time to turn it on.

"We really did a good job of not paying attention to what people said. I mean, obviously we knew that no one was really giving us a shot but those 53 guys in that locker room," said Tuck. "But we like it like that. For some reason, though, these teams with the Giants I've been on, they play well when no one's giving them a shot, when we're kind of backed in a corner."

Carton wouldn't let Tuck leave without bringing up his ongoing war of words with Rex Ryan. Is he concerned that New York could become a Jets town?

"How do you document success?" asked Tuck. "The last time I checked, I have a big, very, very big, big, big, big, very, very shiny, very expensive..."

Boomer finished the thought: "Super Bowl ring."

"Yeah, thank you," said Tuck. "And the last time I checked, you guys, just a little bit empty there."
