Small Plane Crashes On Front Lawn Of Ridgefield Home

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Connecticut man walked away from a plane crash after his aircraft landed on its roof in someone's yard.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine  Mooney 20 aircraft plane went down in Ridgefield minutes after taking off from Danbury Airport Saturday afternoon.

Ridgefield Fire Chief Heather Burford said the plane clipped the tops of several trees before flipping over and landing on its roof on a front lawn.

Authorities say the pilot, a man in his 50s, reported that his engine went out just before it went down.

The pilot was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Connecticut Post identified the pilot as Robert Baldwin. His wife, Frances Baldwin, told the paper her husband was "fine.''
