MINEOLA, NY (WCBS 880) - Nassau County is implementing a new property tax grievance system that settles disputed assessments before payment.

That avoids the complicated and costly payback process.
County Executive Ed Mangano says that results in millions in annual savings for both the county and taxpayers.
“The winners here are Nassau County and all governments in Nassau County that do not have to now provide a refund that contains interest payments, legal fees, and other administrative costs,” he said.
Mangano admits that the new system is not perfect, saying it needs to be more efficient.
