Bronx Zoo Shows Off Creepy Insects For Halloween

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Bronx Zoo is getting into the Halloween spirit by showing off some of their creepy crawlies that are sure to give you the heebie-jeebies.

Mother Nature can be scary and some of the inhabitants of the zoo are always ready for the spooky season.

Visitors can get the chills just by stepping into the Jungle World Exhibit where scorpions and other insects are bound to make your skin crawl.

Every weekend in October the zoo has activities for the whole family that embrace the spirit of the season and highlight wildlife like bugs, bats, snakes and nocturnal animals.

Last week, the New York Aquarium started off their Halloween festivities by giving their animals some tasty treats.

Tazo the sea otter, who made his public debut back in June, was one of many aquarium residents to receive a pumpkin to snack on ahead of the Wildlife Conservation Society's "Ascarium" festivities.

For three weekends in October, the aquarium will host a variety of Halloween-themed activities including magic shows, story telling and a "haunted Sea-fari" adventure. Kids in costumes get in free.
