Police say they were chasing three men who they saw stealing motorcycles when the suspects somehow lost control of their van and plowed into the side of the home around 3 a.m.

"It sounded like an explosion, like a gas explosion or a bomb or something, because it was really loud," said homeowner Rose Papa. "It shook us out of bed."

Two of the suspects then took off on foot, but the third was arrested.

The van, which had eventually landed on top of the homeowner's car, had to be removed by a crane.

"It ripped off the corner of the house and pulled it out so that the whole inside was exposed going down to the basement," Papa said.

No one in the house was injured.
