NYPD Looking For Suspects Wanted In 2 Manhattan Jewelry Store Robberies

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for suspects wanted for two armed robberies of jewelry stores that were both captured on surveillance video.

Police say the first robbery happened on August 24 at the Crown Jewelers International store on West 8th Street.

Three suspects walked in, one armed with a gun and a second with a hammer. Police say while the suspect with the gun pistol-whipped the store owner, the suspect with the hammer smashed several display cases.

The suspects then grabbed jewelry and took off in a black Chevrolet Suburban. Police say two of the suspects were wearing safety vests at the time of the robbery.

A day later on August 25, two of the suspects robbed a second jewelry store on West 57th Street.

Police say they walked in to Kenjo Jewelers. One was armed with a gun and in the surveillance video, appeared to be talking on a cell phone. The second suspect had a rubber mallet.

When the suspect with the mallet couldn't break the glass of the display case, the suspect with gun ordered the a store employee to open the case.

The two then took off.
