NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is utilizing a different kind of weapon in their effort to track down the suspect or suspects wanted in connection with 11 sex attack cases in adjoining Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said detectives were taking laptops around town and showing surveillance video evidence to witnesses, victims and even defendants in central booking.

Kelly said that allowing people to see the videos is an even better option than showing a still photo.

“A lot of canvassing is going on,” Kelly said. “Obviously not 100 percent clarity on some of them, but we’re asking people, perhaps they recognize a trait or a walk on an individual.”

Some of the videos show a victim being approached, while another one shows a car that may be recognized.

In late September, news of an 11th attack renewed a growing sense of fear and frustrations in the neighborhoods where the attacks have occurred.

Police also said they had increased patrols and the presence of plainclothes officers in response.

Even the Guardian Angels were making their presence known at subways and sidewalks. Last month, the community also sent a message with a take back the streets march.

Cops say there are two and maybe three men behind the attempted rapes.
