He follows exotic paths to find Jewish communities in many unlikely places, such as Tahiti and Morocco.

"I wanted to visit out of the way places, exotic places. People go to Paris, London, Rome, and that's fine, but I wanted to, you know, go to Tahiti, to India, to Burma, to Vietnam, to Morocco," he told WCBS 880's Pat Farnack.

"So, you're idea of having a great trip is just not lying on the beach?" replied Farnack.

"You can lie on the beach, but you really have to meet the people, visit the sites, engage people. That's the way we learn. Travel teaches you how little you know and travel, I think, is one of the best ways to expand you mind and meet the challenges of today," said Frank.
