High School Student Shot While Walking In Harlem, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating a shooting in Harlem involving a high school student that happened Tuesday morning.

Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot in the left arm while walking with a friend on 129th and Amsterdam Avenue around 8:30 a.m.

It's not yet known if the victim was an innocent bystander or a target. The gunfire left students at a nearby school, rattled.

"It's sad that it's happening in our community over and over," said 11th grader Lester Mayer.

The teenager was rushed to the hospital. He's expected to be ok.
