Police: Remains Found In S.I. Basement Deemed Human, Death Ruled Homicide
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police say remains that were found in a crawl space of a Staten Island home last month are believed to be human and the case is now being classified as a homicide.
The skeleton was found in the basement of the home on Sept. 1 after Tropical Storm Irene.
Police say the homeowner was pumping water out of the basement when he found the remains.
The medical examiner deemed the death a homicide on Tuesday.
There have been no arrests. The investigation is still ongoing.
