Police: Suspects Wanted For Threatening To Kill Woman In Zuccotti Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities are still looking for two suspects who they say are wanted for threatening to kill a woman inside Zuccotti Park after she filed a police complaint.

Late Tuesday night, one of three men authorities were looking for was arrested and charged with intimidating a witness. Police said that suspect is Hasan Castillo, a 23-year-old from East Orange, N.J.

Police said that on Monday at around 10:30 a.m. the suspects approached a 24-year-old woman in the park, which has been a haven for the Occupy Wall Street movement for the past six weeks, and one of them threatened to kill her after a complaint she filed resulted in the arrest of the suspect's friend.

That arrest stemmed from an incident on Oct. 11 in which the victim and her friends were assaulted inside the park. The assault apparently followed an offer to sell the women drugs and spurned romantic advances.

The suspects in the witness intimidation are being described as follows:

  • Male/Black, 16-18 years old, 5-foot-5, thin build. He was last seen wearing a brown hat with a white shirt that had the words "Stone Harbor" printed on the front
  • Male/Black, 18-20 years old, 5-8, medium build with black hair and black beard. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
