Jets Waive Backup Center Colin Baxter

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Jets fans were none too happy with the production by backup center Colin Baxter while All-Pro Nick Mangold was out with a high ankle sprain.

It seems neither were the Jets.

The team waived Baxter on Tuesday, who started two games this season while filling in for Mangold.

The team also released offensive lineman Matt Kroul from the practice squad.

Baxter was claimed off waivers from San Diego following training camp after signing with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Arizona. He played in three games for the Jets.

Kroul signed as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2009, and started working on converting from being a defensive lineman to an offensive lineman during training camp.
