TSA: Worker Who Wrote ‘Freak On’ Note No Longer Checking Baggage

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A Transportation Security Administration employee responsible for a passenger’s ‘freak’ out earlier this week is no longer checking luggage, according to the agency.

Jill Filipovic, of Brooklyn, who flew from Newark Liberty Airport to Dublin over the weekend opened her luggage Monday morning to discover a personalized note on an official TSA form, reading “GET YOUR FREAK ON GIRL.”

Filipovic, a lawyer and blogger, believes the note stemmed from the small vibrator that was packed in her suitcase.

On Wednesday, the TSA said that it had “quickly launched an investigation and identified the employee responsible.”

According to a post on its blog, the TSA says the “individual was immediately removed from screening operations and appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated.”

On Monday, Filipovic told 1010 WINS that, at first, it was funny, but then she imagined a bunch of men at the airport going through her suitcase and laughing about it.

“The more I think about it, the more I actually find it really offensive and a pretty egregious invasion of privacy,” Filipovic said.

The agency said that TSA officials reached out to Filipovic and “personally apologized” for the “unfortunate incident.”

What the passenger carried on the plane was legal, what the TSA agent did by opening and inspecting the luggage was legal, writing a personal note to the passenger was NOT! You get paid to safeguard air travelers, not to get a laugh and feel superior. This TSA employee should be terminated to show that the TSA requires its employees to follow the TSA’s code of ethics and those who blatantly disobey it will be removed. A suspension just means “old boys club” is in session!
TSA do the right thing, terminate this laggard!

In addition to my above statement…
TSA at the very least release the persons name to the public. This customer of yours had her name released, it should be only fair the offender also be publicly called out!

Wonder if “Freedom of information act” can be used to draw it out of them?

I wonder how the blogger feels about the TSA worker. I wonder if she still used the vibrator and then slogged about it at slogreport.com

Tell Jill, now there a bunch of men, women, friends, family members and colleagues who will look at her and get your freak on.

tsa often inspects a persons luggage after it is checked and has gone through the x ray machined..the only way you know about it is when you open your luggage at your destination and see the pre printed notification from tsa that your luggage was opened and inspected..also if they feel the need to open and inspect, and your luggage is locked, they will have the agents page you vack to the ticket counter to unlock the bag and advise you it is being inspected..tsa agents have been given a lot of authority and some have a mini god complex..what the agent did writing the note was extremely unprofessional and really an invasion of the ladys privacy since the vibratorr was not a security threat..by the way, to the firs perosn who commented..many people use and own vibrators and it is neither a sin nor perverted..it is a personal choice… akmnb

TSA and Home Land Security is just another political smoke and mirrors boondoggle that is costing us millions for being a pain in our backside.

The whole TSA needs a public horsewhipping. ” When you remove the liberties of the citicenry you cease to have freedom>” This country better wake up fast before the facists take you out of your own house and horsewhip you.”
