Expect N.J. Commuter Chaos This Week As 'The Dark Knight Rises' Reportedly Films In Newark

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- After Christian Bale drew large crowds of stargazers to Midtown Manhattan last week as he filmed scenes for the upcoming Batman movie, the movie crews are reportedly set to hit Garden State Thursday.

According to the Star-Ledger, The Dark Knight Rises will turn Newark into Gotham City this week, prompting major traffic concerns for New Jersey commuters.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker has been recognized in the past for his accessibility and popularity on Twitter, and last week he used the social networking site to start a swirl of rumors.

"Holy mum Batman! I keep super-hero secrets," Booker tweeted.

But the secret's out.

While movie publicists have denied to say anything about the film, it is expected that filming will take place Thursday and Friday, reportedly in Newark's City Hall.

Traffic will be rerouted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the Newark Light Rail from Penn Station to Broad Street Station will not be running for the two days. There will be alternate bus services provided for affected commuters.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters next summer.
