NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police have now charged a man in the brutal Brooklyn stabbing of a teen back in September.

Rashad Salaam, 22, was been charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday, in the killing of 16-year-old Kyanna Thomas. She had been stabbed in the neck the morning of September 25.

Sources told 1010 WINS’ Glenn Schuck that Thomas met Salaam on the Internet. After being stabbed at 3 a.m. on a street corner, Kyanna did manage to dial 911 before she passed away.

Kyanna had been spending the weekend at her aunt’s home in Brooklyn. She often did that despite residing in Rosedale, Queens.

Salaam lived on Macdougal Street — not far from the murder scene.

Neighbors say they are relieved that an arrest has been made.
