'Persons Of Interest' Sought In Fatal Shooting Of Newark Police Det. Michael Morgan

PATERSON, N.J.  (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released pictures of two "persons of interest" in the deadly shooting of an off-duty Newark police detective.

Det. Michael Morgan, 32, was shot to death outside the Sunrise Gentleman's Lounge near Straight Street and Getty Avenue in Paterson around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said a robber approached Morgan as he was talking outside with a dancer from the club. Police believe there was a struggle, and Morgan was shot once in the side.

Morgan was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead nearly 90 minutes after the shooting.

Investigators are looking to question two men in connection with the shooting. A photo of a car believed to be connected to the case has also been released.

New Jersey's largest police union reportedly has offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
